May 25th - Tractor trailer careened over 200 ft embankment & submerged in river
On May 25 th we received a call for a tractor trailer that had careened over a 200 ft. embankment consisting of large boulders and had come to rest submerged in a river. Truck with loaded trailer was embedded into the rocks. Unit was so severely damaged that removing unit loaded was not an option. Access to the cargo was not available due to the remote location.

Heavy wreckers were rigged to stabilize the units before technicians would attempt cargo transfer. After the trailer was unloaded, the cargo was then transferred to the staging area at the top of the cliff and from there loaded into the Minuteman replacement trailer. The larger and water-logged boxes were transferred by a skid steer with forks.

When cargo transfer was complete, tractor and trailer were winched out of river and up the roadway with our 60-ton Rotator and another one of our heavy duty wreckers. Tractor and trailer were separated and rigged for towing.
